Weekly motivation - week 20 - Read

Reading offers the ability to learn for free (or close to it). Reading provides mental stimulation.Reading expands your vocabulary, giving you exposure to other cultures or ways of thinking. Reading improves concentration and creates brain pathways that improve memory. Reading develops analytical skills. Reading improves writing. Exposure to different writing styles through reading means that you pick up skills in prose construction.

Reading brings peace and reduces stress. It can lower blood pressure and assist in dealing with mood disorders. Reading boosts creativity by exposing the reader to new ideas and foreign concepts thereby encouraging imagination. Reading even increases empathy (through connection with characters).

Reading has even been reported to fight Alzheimer's disease because it is an active mental process.

Targeted reading can support your life goals, improve motivation or foster new skills. Because books are so portable you can do this on the go - travelling, waiting at a cafe or at the beach.

To read without reflecting is to eat without digesting - Edmund Burke

Weekly motivation - week 19 - Balance, baby!

Balance. Without it we would fall off a bike. Without it, we are left feeling flat and drained.

Life is a balance between rest and movement. A delicate allocation to work, love and play. How can you add balance to your life? How can you ensure that you are left at the end of the day feeling satisfied with your achievements without being burnt out?

There is an argument that balance is about managing boundaries. Ensuring that you make choices throughout the day that add up to satisfaction, achievement and, ultimately, success.

Weekly motivation - week 18 - It's all about attitude

A positive attitude is paramount to a happy life. Life is short. Happiness is always a choice. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. There are people that wait all week for Friday, all year for summer and all their life for happiness.

Choose to live life by choice, not by change. Choose to motivate rather than manipulate, Choose to be useful, not used. Choose to make changes not excuses. Chose to excel rather than compete. Choose self-esteem rather than self-pity. Choose to listen to your inner voiced not to the opinion of others.

So, whatever you decide to do. Make sure it makes you happy.
